Job Overview
Seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist (Cyto Tech) to join a Cytology unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures, cytological screenings, and diagnostic analysis of various specimens. This role involves working with advanced equipment, maintaining high standards of diagnostic accuracy, and contributing to patient care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $50-$58 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Perform review and screening of ThinPrep PAP smears, with accurate detection of abnormal cells.
- Analyze gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, including body fluids, respiratory tract samples, and other special procedures.
- Use and maintain specialized equipment, such as Hologic Imaging System and Hologic Review Scope.
- Prepare and stain cytological samples (e.g., Cytolyt, Saccomano fixations, and PAP staining).
- Perform microscopy, squash preparations, and ThinPrep techniques.
- Document findings accurately using Epic and Cerner charting systems.
Requirements
Education & Certification:
- Must have ASCP-CT certification.
- Proficiency in ThinPrep, gynecological, and non-gynecological cytology.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in cytology.
- Prior work with adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Familiarity with Epic and Cerner charting systems preferred.
Skills:
- Advanced diagnostic skills in cytological screening.
- Familiarity with special stains and organism detection (e.g., PAP).
- Knowledge of microscopy techniques and cytological sample preparation.
Additional Requirements:
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines are required unless exempted for medical or religious reasons.
- Valid Ohio state license (pending approval acceptable).
- Must pass fingerprinting for compliance with Ohio requirements (results take 4-6 weeks).
- Two professional references from the past 24 months.
